Coldwell Expects Jordan Gill To Impress, Keep Rising in Ranks

There’s been a ton of hype surrounding Jordan Gill in recent months following the Chatteris featherweight’s stunning form when stopping Ryan Doyle and Emmanuel Rodriguez in consecutive fights.

A secret on U.K. undercards and small halls for a number of years before arriving on the big stage in style, Gill’s quiet rise now has major momentum behind it and with another top of the bill outing this Friday against Mexico’s Enrique Tinoco, trainer and manager, Dave Coldwell, is confident his charge can put on another impressive display.

“It’s another good test for Jordan,” revealed Coldwell. “He’s someone who has been a  talented fighter for a very long time, but he just didn’t have the opportunity to demonstrate that.

“He’s been given a chance by Eddie Hearn, Sky and Matchroom and he’s grabbed it with both hands and hasn’t looked back since. I’ve seen Jordan up in the gym for about the last 18 months and believe me when I tell you this, this is only the beginning for him. He’s nowhere near the finished article, but the rate he’s improving and learning, you’ll be looking at a very special fighter really soon.”

In with an opponent who has shared the ring with Miguel Roman and Devin Haney, Coldwell is insistent that there’ll be no slip ups from Gill.

“This kid he’s fighting doesn’t mess around. He doesn’t care for reputation or what his opponents might have done or might go on to do. He treats every fight serious and he gives his all in every fight. He’s operated at a decent level and come up short when he’s tried to go beyond that, but he’s a fighter who believes in himself and Jordan will have to treat him with utmost respect. I’m looking forward to a good fight, but I know that Jordan will give another great account of himself.”
