Kiel beats Wetzlar – Bietigheim scores in the relegation battle – handball

Göppingen defeats HC Erlangen

Record champion THW Kiel has trembled to victory before the deciding match in the Handball Bundesliga. Three days before the 99th Schleswig-Holstein derby against leaders and defending champion SG Flensburg-Handewitt, the zebras won on Thursday their away game at HSG Wetzlar with 27:23 (15:12).

“That was very wild in between, but in the end our defense stood,” said Kiel's Steffen Weinhold at Sky. After six goalless opening minutes, the Kiel, who had lost the last two games in Wetzlar, pushed hard on the pace. Especially on the left attack side with Rune Dahmke came the team of THW coach Alfred Gislason to a 6-1 lead (12: 9). Sovereign was the game of the guests but not. At 20:20 (47th) and 23:23 (54th) the HSG had made the balance. With a 4-0 draw in the last six minutes of the game, the THW came to the final deserved victory.

Bietigheim beats Hannover

In the relegation battle put the SG BBM Bietigheim with the 29:27 on the TSV Hannover-Burgdorf an exclamation point. At break, the SG was still with 13:16 behind. Bietigheim now has eleven plus points as the VfL Gummersbach, but on Saturday against the TBV Lemgo Lippe can refill.

Minden and Göppingen are successful
